Originally a 17th-century farm, the hotel is located in Valldal, Norway, surrounded by mountains and streams, with the name itself meaning ‘canyon’. The actual setting for this minimalist getaway in the film is a remote part of Alaska, accessible only by an arduous trek preceded by a helicopter journey.
