Once the collar is forward, pull the brake light switch straight out of the bracket. If the switch will not come out, push it up until the bottom clip (red arrow) breaks. Then pull the switch straight out. Using this method deems the switch unusable. Be sure that you are replacing it, as you need to break the clip.
