Many accessories are available for the 870 so if you are into the equivalent of putting 22" wheels on a 4 X 4 pick up, knock your self out. With the Mossbergs I only have experience with the 500/Maverick 88. I am not at all fond of these. If the 590's are significantly different, I would give them a try. The maverick 88 will always go bang when you want it to. It uses the Mossberg 500/590/590A1 design. The only difference is that the safety is a cross bolt design rather than a tang mounted safety, and barrel has a less desirable finish that is more prone to rusting. The Mossberg Maverick 88 is almost identical to the highly acclaimed Maverick 500 shotgun. But one key difference between both guns is the manufacturing process.
