Even without power the indoor space is already a few degrees insulated from outside, and you just need to add a campfire in a wide, ventilated space and on a non flammable tile if you have no antique oven or a fireplace. Most important thing is clothing though, with proper clothing it will be survivable in vanilla winter even without power.

TL;DR You can farm and trap just fine during winter. Fishing is so-so if you're good at it or pointless if not. You can farm just fine even when it's freezing throughout the day. Doesn't make sense but neither does the accelerated spoilage of player-canned/frozen goods (if on default settings) so that's a wash.As food / calories problem, is easy when you farm tomatoes, carrots, cabbages or potatoes and use them as bait to catch rabbits. Squirrel is hard because require a non renewable source of food like peanuts and cereal and birds are just to small to mantain your weight.
